Machakos intensifies fight against corruption

30 May 2014, 11:16

Machakos - Machakos governor, Alfred Mutua, said his government was committed to curb corruption.

He pledged his administration's support to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The governor said he was impressed with the commitment the anti-graft body is showing in fighting graft and lauded their move to open an office in Machakos to serve the lower Eastern region.

The EACC has been allocated land in Machakos where they will put up an office.

Mutua said he invited the commissioners because they wanted Machakos to be the leading county in terms of integrity and provision of services.

“As such, every department has finance officers, accountants and auditors to ensure than every cent is accounted for. We are also inviting the anti-corruption commission to look in to our books of accounts and advice accordingly for action,” said Governor Mutua.

Mutua was speaking after a meeting with EACC  Chairperson, Mumo Matemu, and Commissioner Prof Jane Onsongo.
