Machakos - The County Government of Machakos has put in place measures to fight insecurity in the county amid the rising cases of terror attacks in the country.
Machakos governor, Alfred Mutua, said that the decision to invest in security in the county was arrived at during a recent County Security meeting.
Mutua said that whereas security was under the national government’s jurisdiction, every Kenyan had to realize they had a duty to keep the country secure and safe.
“The fight against crime and terrorism is multifaceted and we in Machakos will not sit back and watch the National Government struggle in the fight while we can take responsibility and be on the front line in securing our country,” said Mutua.
In line with increasing security in the county, Machakos will invest in gun detectors and manning of all entry points into the county, he said.
“With that in mind, we are purchasing more gun detectors to ensure that illegal firearms neither enter nor are used to terrorize people. We are also going to have road blocks in all entry points to Machakos County where thorough checks will be conducted,” said Mutua.
Kenya is one of the countries in the continent worst affected by acts of terror mostly perpetrated by Islamic sects.
