MPs vow to petition Nkaissery over curfew in four counties

17 May 2015, 18:29

Garissa - Garissa MPs have vowed to petition Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery in Parliament over the curfew that was imposed on four counties due to cases of insecurity.

According to the MPs, the curfew that was imposed on Garissa, Mandera,Wajir and Tana River Counties violates the constitutional rights of the residents and wants it lifted, Daily Nation reported.

They said the government had failed to address insecurity in the country and resorted to use curfews to intimidate and punish its people.

On Friday, Nkaissery extended the curfew in the four counties by one month, something that did not sit well with the MPs.
