Nairobi - Lawyers have begun the campaign process for sole seat to represent the legal practitioners in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Among those seeking election is incumbent Ahmednasir Abdullahi who will vie for the seat alongside former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) chairmen Okong’o, O’mogeni and Tom Ojienda, and veteran Kabaru Ndegwa.
LSK organizing secretary, Apollo Mboya, in a media statement, disclosed the organization had settled for February 6 as the ideal date for the polls.
He however added that this was still subject to approval by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
“The campaigns are set to commence today (Thursday) and will run until February 5,” said Mboya.
It would be interesting to observe if Abdullahi would retain his seat.
He has recently been in the limelight for what fellow lawyers and opinion makers term as “arrogance.”
The lawyer has been at loggerheads with many factions of the lawyers’ society and recently was cited on the JSC scandal regarding corruption and misuse of office.
The vocal Abdullahi was blamed and criticized for what public opinion deemed as “unfair dismissal” of a former Chief Registrar at the JSC.
