Lamu residents protest curfew extension

Lamu - Lamu residents held a major demonstration on Tuesday in protest of the extension of the dusk to dawn curfew by the Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo.
Business came to a standstill in the town for several hours as more security agencies were mobilised to quell the situation.
Reports indicate that Kimaiyo has since flown to the town to help handle the situation, The Standard reported.
Kimaiyo announced the extension of the curfew by one month to help security agencies continue with their efforts to restore peace and stability in the area.

The curfew was effected in July by Kimaiyo following the death of over 100 people in Mpeketoni, Witu areas in attacks by unknown persons.
