Kidero to lay off 5000 workers

Nairobi - Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has announced plans by the Nairobi County government to lay off 5,048 out of its 11,048 workers, Capital News.

Addressing the Senate the Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations on Monday morning, Kidero said that the KES 6 billion move would go a long way in reducing the bloated workforce, enhance efficiency and streamline City Hall operations.

The Chairman of the Committee Kipchumba Murkomen however cautioned the governor, telling him that he had no authority to sack the workers as they have been seconded to the County by the National Government.
