Kiambu launches cancer, diabetes screening project

Kiambu - Kiambu residents received a timely boost after the launching of free diabetes and cancer screening programme.
The scheme was launched at the Wangige Primary school courtesy of the Kiambu County Government.
Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo, told the residents that the free medical camp, which he said was the first to be held in the county, will be held on a bi-monthly basis.
Kabogo said that this would allow them to distribute medical drugs to every sub-county in Kiambu.
The Governor said that the free medical camps would be held in all locations in the county in order to benefit everybody in Kiambu.
“The camps will be held across the county with the intention of bring free medical services at your door step. The camps aims to provide free medical check-ups, treatment, basic medications, health related guidance and awareness,” said Kabogo.
The governor meanwhile cautioned hospital managers and doctors against selling the drugs and thus impacting against moves to allow all residents access to free treatment.
The bi-monthly free medical camps is a blessing to the residents of Kiambu.
The scheme to screen diabetes and cancer and will augment the free maternal healthcare provided by the national government.
