Key health summits scheduled for Kenya

07 July 2014, 20:05

Nairobi - The country will next year host the Africa Pharmacy Congress and the Health Insurance Summit Africa.

PharmaAfrica will organise the events in February and May 2015 respectively.

PharmaAfrica has also partnered with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO),  to put together the 2nd Africa Pharmaceutical Summit (APS), a conference that brings together executives from pharmaceutical industry, government and quasi-government officials, investors and other key stakeholders involved in the policy, regulation and processes surrounding pharmaceutical sector development.

The second Africa Pharmaceutical Summit will be held in September in Accra, Ghana.

The summit, whose first edition was in Tunisia in September 2013, typically attracts attendees from business, public sector and government from countries throughout Africa and beyond.

"Collaboration plays a big role in furthering the agenda on pharmaceutical sector development in Africa, so it gives me great pleasure to welcome UNIDO to our impressive collection of supporters  as headline partner for the 2014 events," said PharmaAfrica Managing Director, Miles Mudzviti.

"It is through the on-going support of our partners that we can continue to drive the dialogue and give stakeholders the opportunity to meet and exchange. This partnership will be a crucial contribution to the growth and establishment of Africa Pharmaceutical Summit and Pharmaceutical Africa as the landmark events in the African pharmaceutical industry," added Mudzviti.

This year's special topic, "Strategies in Partnering and Investment" makes it a valuable opportunity to forge partnerships be it private-private or public-private to enhance the African pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities, officials said.
