Kethi asks court to dismiss case filed against her

18 March 2014, 08:12

Nairobi - Kethi Kilonzo wants a court to dismiss a criminal case filed against her over what she terms as lack of preparedness on the prosecution side.

Last year, the prosecution failed to serve her lawyers with witness statements forcing the court to adjourn the hearing, and the same scenario was witnessed on Monday when the hearing was to begin, The Standard reports.

She claims that her lawyers have made several appeals to be issued with the statements in preparation for the case but their efforts turned out to be futile.

Kethi was charged in September last year alongside former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission official Godfrey Lempiso for the theft of a voter registration slip valued at KES 5.

She denied the charges before Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo and was released on a KES 100 000 bond, together with her co-accused.
