Update: KNH staff strike
10 November 2011, 09:33
Nairobi - Reports by Daily Nation indicate that one of the paralysing strike that had hit Kenya on Wednesday as 800 employees of Kenyatta National Hospital boycotted work demanding payment of allowances has been averted.
The strike was later called off later in the day as a memorandum of understanding was signed between the hospitals chief executive officer and assistant minister for medical services, as staff were told they shall receive their allowances in two weeks.
Frightening sights had greeted visitors to the hospital during the day as hundreds of patients, some on stretchers, were left unattended, paralyzing services at the giant health facility.
