Kenyans want all civil servants to take pay cut

07 May 2014, 09:24

Nairobi - The ballooning wage bill can only be slashed if all civil servants and elected leaders accept to take pay cuts.

According to a research conducted by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) across the 47 counties, members of the public were of the view that all workers should be paid monthly salaries and all allowances should be scrapped, Daily Nation reports.

A report by the Kenya Institute of Public Policy and Research Association (Kippra) revealed that most people are shunning the private sector for public service jobs because of many allowances that come with working for the government.

Kenyans also want all wages to be rationalised to achieve uniformity in government’s pay schemes.
