Kenyan animal health expert honoured in Australia

Nairobi - A university don will receive a prestigious award in Cairns, Australia next month for his work in the animal health discipline.
Dr Wafula Aleri, a lecturer at the Department of Clinical Studies, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Nairobi has been named this year’s winner of the Gustav Rosenberger Young Scientist Cattle award.
Aleri will receive the prestigious award at the Buiatriacs Conference will be held from July 26 to August 1.
The Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Fund (GRMF) is an international award in tribute to the renowned Dr Gustav Rosenberger and is related to the World Association for Buiatrics.
He will present part of his PhD research work at the conference.
The award was initiated, with the objective to “further improve bovine medicine at an international level and to stimulate bovine research in its broadest sense.”
To realize that objective, bovine scientists have been awarded by grants and prizes, mainly being young scientists.
The grant consists of a value of approximately €10 000 and has been sponsored by MSD Animal Health and a travel scholarship to attend the 2014 Buiatrics Conference.
