Kenya waits on US drugs dossier
16 November 2011, 17:41
Nairobi - Daily Nation reports Internal Security assistant minister Orwa Ojode told Parliament Wednesday that despite official inquiries, Kenya was yet to receive information from the United States detailing why Kilome MP John Harun Mwau and businesswoman Naima Mohammed Nyakinyua (Mama Lela) were named as being among the world’s top drug-traffickers.
Ojode made the statement as he cleared the two MPs of all allegations levelled against them in a US dossier released to the Kenya's anti-graft body early in the year. Former US ambassador Michael Ranneberger handed the dossier seeking investigations against five MPs and a businessman.
Ojode said the police had failed to dig up evidence linking Mwau and Juja MP William Kabogo to all the allegations of drug-trafficking.
