Kenya Polytechnic students riot over fees

28 February 2012, 14:02

Nairobi - Capital News reports that Kenya Polytechnic University College's students protested and engaged riot police in running battles on Tuesday, paralysing traffic on the busy Haile Selassie Avenue.

Motorists and passersbys using the road bore the brunt of the violence as police delayed in their response to contain the chaos, as they protested increase in fees by the institution.

The students were making attempts to march to the nearby Ministry of Education headquarters at Jogoo House to present their grievances.
