Kenya tries to repair ties with Sudan

Nairobi - According to Daily Nation reports, Kenya launched a major diplomatic damage control drive to foil brewing diplomatic tensions, following President Omar al-Bashir's decision to expel Kenya's ambassador to Khartoum.
Reports indicate that a personal envoy was dispatched to Khartoum by President Mwai Kibaki to discuss the diplomatic rift triggered by recent Kenya High Court ruling ordering the police to arrest the Sudanese leader and hand him over to the International Criminal Court (ICC) if he sets foot in the country.
The government, at the same time, requested Sudan’s envoy to Kenya Kamal Ismael Saeed not to leave the country, after he was recalled to Khartoum by Sudan's government.
