Nairobi - Media reports that the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) was pushing for a monthly salary of KES 1.6 million for the Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo have been denied by the Commission's chair Johnstone Kavuludi.
In a statement to Capital News Kavuludi said that he was not aware of the proposals reported in the local dailies as the body has no mandate to set salaries for state officers.
Kavuludi went on to add that under the Constitution, Kimaiyo, his two deputies Grace Kaindi and Samuel Arachi as well as the CID director Ndegwa Muhoro are state officers, and thus their salaries are set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
