KWS kill three suspected poachers

Nairobi - Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rangers at Tsavo West National Park gunned down three suspected poachers on Sunday night after a heavy gun battle.

Confirming the incident to Daily Nation, Robert Obrien, the KWS assistant director said the rangers were on patrol at the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary when they spotted a vehicle dropping off four people and speeding off.

Upon ordering the suspects to surrender, and one of them fired at the rangers igniting the fire fight that claimed three lives, including that of a former KWS fence attendant who used to work at the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary.
