KDF has lost 800 soldiers since 2011

Nairobi - A State lawyer Tuesday revealed that at least 800 soldiers have deserted the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) since 2011.
State lawyer Mwangi Njoroge made the revelation at the Court of Appeal in Malindi where the State is trying to reverse High Court’s ruling that suspended the trial of 26 former naval soldiers in court martial for deserting duty, The Standard reports.
The military warned that those who would opt to withdraw from the force would be severely punished, a move that is seen to stop those who were sent to carry out a military operation in Somalia from quitting.
The State wants the ex-servicemen be charged to stop such cases in the force.
