Nairobi - The official Twitter account of the Kenya Defence Forces has been hacked.
It, together with that of the KDF spokesperson Major Emmanuel Chirchir were both hacked last night by a user named simply as @Anon_0x03, who took credit for the hack.
The hacking has caused embarrassment to the force and the state, with anti government messages being spread by the hacker.
Some of the messages read, "All of you who have stolen from Kenya, we are coming after you. Whether
you are Kenyan or not. A theif is a theif! No matter your position.
Another one read," The citizens of Kenya are the govt. GoK should respect the rights of all, not just a privileged few. Elitists time to quit.
As did another one, " Revolution is what KE needs.
A revolution of minds & attitude.
Do you want change?
Military personnel and State House confirmed that they had contacted Twitter over the matter and that it was being worked on.
" We have contacted twitter and it is being worked on. Local security agencies are on top of the situation as we speak, Chirchir responded to public queries.
It is not the first time State web operations are being compromised, with others suffering the same fate just three months ago.
