International Criminal Court to spend Sh3 billion on Kenyan cases

11 November 2013, 23:51

Nairobi - The International Criminal Court (ICC) will spend over Sh3 billion on the cases against President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto and co-accused Joshua arap Sang, Standard Digital reports.

The trio are facing charges of crimes against humanity after 1,300 were killed after Kenyatta won the 2007 elections. Kenyatta is alleged to have funded and orchestrated acts of violence on rival supporters.

The President's trial has been postponed till February next year as prosecutors realised they needed more time to prepare their case. The ICC spent Sh788 million on the cases involving the Kenyan trio this year and next year that figure should be close to Sh541.2 million.
