Imanyara gets KES 15M for unlawful detention

Nairobi - The Standard reports former Imenti Central MP Gitobu Imanyara has been awarded KES 15 million compensation for unlawful detention.
Former Githunguri MP Njehu Gatabaki and former journalist Bidan Mbugua were also awarded KES 10 million and KES 7 million respectively.
Imanyara was unlawfully detained for more than two years in Maximum Security Prison on charges associated with his work as a human rights lawyer in the late 1980's.
