IEBC boss feels targetted

Nairobi - Beleagured Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chief Executive Officer, James Oswago, has questioned why the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) singled him out for a probe over graft allegations.
Oswango has appealed to the High Court that the anti-graft commission investigates all IEBC commissionerss.
The official, who denies any allegations of wrongdoing, is under investigation for alleged graft in the procurement process of the biometric voter registration kits.
“It is unfair to investigate an individual when the IEBC is constituted of several commissioners,” Oswago said.
The probe follows the events surrounding the procurement of the biometric registration kits.
Most of these kits failed to work during the general election held in March.
This forced election organizers to revert to manual tallying the votes.
Justice Mumbi Ngugi will decide Oswago’s case on 29th of November.
Oswago’s appeal comes at a time when the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leaders are pointing an accusing finger at the High Court for nullifying most of their leaders’ elections.
The official opposition CORD largely blamed the failure of IEBC equipment for the electoral defeat.
