ICC postpones Ruto, Sang case to September 17

11 September 2013, 19:17

The Hague - The trial against the Deputy President, William Ruto, and Radio Journalist, Joshua Arap Sang, was on Wednesday postponed to September 17 due to witness hitch.

The two, together with President Uhuru Kenyatta, will be tried for their complicity in the 2008 post-election violence that led to more than 1 000 deaths and displacement of thousands others.

The case is being heard by Trial Chamber V (a) at the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands.

The bench hearing the case is composed of Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji (Presiding), Judge Olga Herrera Carbuccia and Judge Robert Fremr.

The trial's opening started with the reading of the charges against Ruto and Sang.

The pair pleaded not guilty to the charges.
