ICC judges to decide whether to end Uhuru's case or not
04 February 2014, 08:05
Nairobi - Judges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) will on Wednesday decide whether to end President Uhuru Kenyatta’s case or give more time to the prosecution to gather more evidence in the case.
The decision will be made at a status conference convened by the judges where President Kenyatta’s lawyers will be seeking to have the case dropped; however, President Kenyatta will not be required to travel to The Hague for the conference, Daily Nation reports.
On the other hand, the prosecution, led by Fatou Bensouda will be asking for more time to get fresh witnesses and evidence, after it was reported that some key witnesses had opted out of the case.
Bensouda is opposed to the termination of President Kenyatta’s case and accused the Kenyan government of non-compliance with her office in carrying out its investigations in the case.
The trial was set to begin on 5 February, 2014.
