Nairobi - Homabay Senator Otieno Kajwang’s last tweet was about corruption allegations leveled against officials of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
“We said it then. Was covered in local dailies but emotions carried the day. Remember the phrase 'accept and move on' #Chickengate,” Senator Kajwang @HonKajwang wrote on Twitter on Tuesday evening.
Kajwang’ died Tuesday night after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Confirming the tragic death, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) spokesperson Philip Etale said he died at the Mater Hospital in Nairobi shortly after midnight.
ODM party leader and former Prime Monister Raila Odinga also announced Kajwang’s death on Twitter.
“It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Ndugu Otieno Kajwang (Nyakwarnyakwamba),” Raila Odinga @RailaOdinga said.

His colleagues in the Senate mourned the late Kajwang’ in their posts on Twitter and this is what some of them had to say about the former Immigration minister:
“Sad news on the death of colleague @HonKajwang.He'l be missed for his debates & humour. May God comfort the family and friends. #RIPKajwang,” Sen. Charles Keter @ketercharles said.
“My condolences to the family,friends & people of Homabay county following the death of Sen. Otieno Kajwang. Kenya has lost a great leader. Hon Kajwang was with me and Hon Elmi last night in parliament , a very happy man.Kenya has lost one of its brilliant politician of the time,” Hon. Aden Duale @HonAdenDuale said.
“So shocked that my colleague & friend Sen.Kajwang has passed on .will remember him as passionate&eloquent debator.A man full of life&humor,” SENATOR MURKOMEN @kipmurkomen.
“Am in traffic on my way to Lee Funeral Home. It is a big blow to lose such a bright and sharp mind in senate. Rest in peace my brother!” Boni Khalwale @BoniMtetezi said.
The body of the late Senator has been moved from Mater Hospital to Lee Funeral Home.
