Health official arrested with tusks worth KES 840,000

Kitui - Mwingi East district public health officer, Michael Kyalo Mateng’e has been charged in court after being found in possession of 17 pieces of elephant tusks worth KES 840 000 in Kyua area, Machakos County.
The accused appeared before Kitui Senior Principal Magistrate Alfred Kibiru on Monday to answer to the charges, The Standard reports.
Mateng'e was was released on KES 500 000 bond until October 17 when hearing of the case will commence.
