Govt urged to implement TJRC report
16 August 2013, 15:09
Nairobi - The government has been criticized for taking time to implement the recommendations made in the report by the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission, on human rights abuses stretching over nearly five decades.
Capital News reports that since the release of the report in May and the strict time-lines outlined in the final report by the commission, none of the recommendations have been acted upon.
The TJRC was established by an act of parliament in 2008, as part of a peace agreement signed by both sides in the coalition government whose formation ended the political and ethnic violence that erupted after the 2007 December general election.
