Nairobi - More than 12,500 civil servants who failed to show up for the biometric registration will be struck off the payroll, starting November.
The government conducted a countrywide biometric registration of civil servants which Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru said would help reduce the country’s swelling wage bill, The Standard reported.

Waiguru said, out of the expected 172,522, only 160,012 employees turned up for the exercise with their supporting documents.
The government will save at least KES 1.8 billion if the 12,500 workers who failed to be registered are declared as ghost workers and struck off the payroll.
