Nairobi - There will be three days of national mourning to honour the departed Nelson Mandela the government has announced.
President Uhuru Kenyatta made the announcement Friday, also insisting that the country's flag will fly at half mast for the duration of the mourning.
That period will begin Saturday.
Mandela died Thursday night at his Johannesburg home after suffering from a long illness.
Other world leaders including US president Barrack Obama had ordered that their respective flags fly at half mast in Mandela's honour.
Tanzania had earlier announced three days of mourning to commemorate the life of a true African hero.
