Mombasa - President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday said that the government cannot afford to meet teachers demands for pay rise.
Addressing a conference of primary school heads in Mombasa, the President said the demands are justified but cannot be achieved due to the current state of the country’s economy, Daily Nation reports.
He said he did not want to lie to the teachers on what cannot be achieved but promised to look into the matter once the economy grows.
