Government closes down illicit brew producer

Nairobi - Health Cabinet Secretary, James Macharia has moved in to save Kenyans from illicit brew that killed over 80 people in Embu, Kitui, Makueni, Kiambu and Murang’a by ordering the closure of the liquor manufacturer.
Macharia said that the company, identified as Comrades Investment Company contravened the provisions of the Food, Drugs and Chemical Substances Act of the Kenyan Law.
According to Daily Nation, tests conducted on samples of Sacramento Cane Spirit and Countryman liquor revealed that they contained up to 100 percent levels of methanol.
