15 October 2013, 21:31
Nairobi - Four airlines have been forced to be diverted from the Moi International Airport in
Mombasa after it ran short of jet fuel. The airport has been dry since Monday, and planes have had to go to
other airports in the region for refueling, Capital FM reports.
"The shortage has been
occasioned by wrangles between the Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited
and oil marketers," airport manager Yatich Kangugo was quoted as saying.
"We are appealing to Kenya Petroleum Company and oil marketers to resolve the matter immediately to avoid a major crisis and also to reduce the cost,” he said in a bbrief statement to the media.
