Friendly fire kills two KDF soldiers

12 November 2013, 20:09

Nairobi - Two Kenya Defence Forces soldiers were killed when ammunition they were transporting to Garissa exploded in an accident on Tuesday, the Daily Nation reports.

Eight others are understood to have been injured in the explosion that took place between Bura and Masalani on the way to Garissa, when one of the three military lorries undertaking the operation was involved in an accident causing the explosion.
A KDF official said that the injured soldiers were airlifted to Nairobi for specialized treatment.

The incident comes amidst a concerted effort by local security agencies to wipe out the threat caused by the militia group Al-shabaab on the Kenya-Somalia border.
