04 June 2014, 09:08

Nairobi - French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, Ségolène Royal, has confirmed participation at the first United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) later this month.

The summit is scheduled for Nairobi from 23 to 27 June 2014.

The French Embassy, in a statement, confirmed Royal’s presence at the historic event.

“This event is to be a historic milestone in UNEP’s 43 years history: it is expected to be attended by high-level delegations from over 160 United Nations Member and Observer States,” stated the Embassy.

UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, the President of the UN General Assembly, Ministers of the Environment and Foreign Affairs as well as business executives are set to attend the newly-established UNEA that will bring together more than 1 200 high-level participants from governments, business and civil society.
