Nairobi - Four people died and seven others injured following an accident involving a bus at the Githurai 45 roundabout in Nairobi.
The accident happened a few metres from the spot where another accident killed seven people after a bus rammed into by standers a waiting to board vehicles to different destinations in the evening rush.
This is the latest in a series of traffic crashes to hit the country.
It adds to the already surging numbers of road carnage that tend to worsen during the Christmas festivities.
The Inspector General of Police, David Kimaiyo, earlier on directed all traffic officers to be strict while enforcing traffic rules to reduce the carnage on the roads.
“I call upon all traffic officers to strictly enforce all traffic rules so that we reduce the senseless loss of lives on our roads,” said Kimaiyo during a recent briefing.
Road carnage claims the lives of more 3000 Kenyans annually, which makes Kenyan roads among the most dangerous in the world.
The government earlier cautioned that it was going to hold responsible the managers of passenger service vehicles that would cause accidents especially those caused by human error.
The warning followed revocation of several bus company licenses.
