Former cop arrested over abduction

15 October 2013, 11:14

Nairobi - A former AP officer was arrested Monday night in Rongai during a rescue mission of 15-year-old twins abducted 11 days ago in Parklands. The abducted twins are students of Peponi School in Ruiru, and it is alleged that the kidnappers were demanding a ramsom of KES 86 million from their family.

The former AP officer, Joash Opiyo Jagero, is said to have been involved in another saga in 2010 where Co-operative bank lost KES 80 million to fraudsters. He was in police uniform during the abduction, Daily Nation reports, and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday alongside his accomplices.

Earlier, police had revealed that there are approximately 14 gangs involved in kidnappings within Nairobi County.
