Former U.S. President Clinton begins Kenya visit

02 May 2015, 09:24

Nairobi - Former U.S. President Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea Clinton arrived in Kenya on Friday for a three-day visit to charity projects in the country.

Clinton arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport early Friday and was received by Deputy President William Ruto.

Clinton's visit to Kenya is part of his tour of African countries including Tanzania, Liberia and Morocco to inspect development projects funded by the Clinton Foundation that seeks to boost agriculture, health, education and wildlife conservation.

A statement from the Clintons Foundation said Clintons will visit Mbagathi District Hospital in Nairobi on Friday to see a project on educating families about treating diarrhoea.

The former U.S. president will be in Kasarani, Nairobi, on Saturday to talk about investing in women, and later visit projects they support on addressing climate change.

On Sunday, the Clintons are expected to travel to Samburu National Park to see work in progress on the prevention of elephant poaching.
