Nairobi - Nairobi police boss Benson Kibue has warned members of public against lynching suspected criminals, saying those arrested over the incident would be prosecuted.
The warning comes after five suspected thugs were lynched in three separate incidents in Nairobi on Wednesday night,The Standard reports.
According to police reports, two suspects were stoned to death in Kahawa Sukari, two in Kawangware and one in Ngong.
Kenyans have always been warned against lynching suspected thugs but it seems the warning falls on deaf ears.
Last week, Busia County CID commander Amos Tebeny also warned locals against taking the law into their hands by lynching suspects saying that the act was not a solution to curb insecurity.
The residents lynched two men who stole KES 40,000 from an Mpesa shop.
