Female police officers frequently sexually harassed

Nairobi - Most of the 759 complaints leveled against police officers and submitted to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) have been of a sexual nature.
In a statement to Capital News, IPOA Chairman Macharia Njeru said that they are seeking to establish if the claims that most female police officers are asked for sexual favours to earn promotions are in fact true.
Njeru went on to add that his team will focus on sexual harassment within the force itself, as it is a serious issue affecting the female officers and that there was currently no mechanisms in place to deal with such cases.
