Nairobi - Ezra Chiloba Simiyu is the new Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
IEBC chairman Issack Hassan announced Simiyu’s appointment Monday evening after conducting interviews with the four candidates, together with other commissioners, The Standard reported.
The current acting CEO Beatrice Sungura Nyabuto was among the shortlisted candidates but Hassan said they picked Chiloba after he emerged as the most successful candidate in the interviews.

Chiloba has now been tasked with steering the commission through the next General Election in 2017, with his first assignment being to oversee Homa Bay and Kajiado Central by-elections.
The position fell vacant following the suspension of former CEO James Oswago over alleged corruption in the procurement of voting materials.
