Ukunda - Three police officers narrowly escaped death when an improvised explosive was hurled at their vehicle in Ukunda.
The officers, who were on patrol, survived as the device failed to explode.
Area OCPD, Jack Ekakoro, said the unknown assailant hauled a grenade-like device at the police officers’ vehicle as they were conducting their routine patrol.
“Our officers were on patrol when the device which looked like a grenade was hurled at them. We collected the device which did not explode and experts have just discovered that this is a locally made device but it is not actually a grenade,” said Ekakoro.
This incident comes a few days after an explosion that left ten people with serious injuries at a restaurant in Diani.
There has been a wave of insecurity incidences in the country with the police gunning down over ten criminals in Nairobi during the weekend.
The security operatives have since vowed to deal with criminals swiftly and decisively until Kenyans were secure.
