Experts to assess environmental impact of JKIA fire

Nairobi - The environmental impact of the fire that destroyed the arrivals and departure lounges at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) shall be investigated by experts from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
According to Capital News, the experts who flew in, will conduct an environmental assessment of the impacts of the fire, and sample and analyse the possible effects of fire residues and extinguishing agents at the scene of the blaze.
The team will further assist the authorities in the clean up of the area and establish if there is any presence of asbestos, which is harmful to the environment.
