Nairobi - Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga was due to appear in court on Tuesday following the assault of policemen at a church, after recording a statement at Kasarani police station.
According to Capital News he was to face charges of assault and robbery with violence along with five other suspects, and was whisked away under tight security from the police station as his lawyer Paul Muite protested that no sufficient statement had been taken from him.
During the attack, at least three policemen who responded to a distress call by Njenga’s church followers were assaulted and their firearms stolen.
