EACC starts probe into 'chicken' scandal

19 February 2015, 09:17

Nairobi - Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) are expected to grill senior public officers said to have taken bribes from the officials of a UK printing firm.

The officers, who include IEBC Chairman Issack Hassan, former IEBC CEO James Oswago and Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir are said to have received bribes from the directors of Smith and Ouzman printing firm in order to secure business contracts, The Standard reported.

A UK court jailed two officials of Smith and Ouzman after they were found guilty of bribing the officials during their tenure at the defunct Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC).

They have so far denied the corruption allegations even as the EACC starts to probe their involvement in the alleged ‘chicken’ gate scandal.
