VIDEO: Doctors reject offer to raise perks

Nairobi - Daily Nation reports that striking doctors rejected a government offer to increase their allowances by Sh50, 000 per month, after their union reported that they had not been consulted by the authorities about the new deal announced by the Medical Services assistant minister Kambi Kazungu.
As the strike entered its second day, hospitals in Western, Nyanza, Rift Valley and Central Provinces referred emergency cases to private health facilities, as many others turned to specialists from the medical school and clinical officers to plug the shortage, as MPs demanded quick resolution of the stalemate in Parliament.
Kazungu said the government had reviewed various allowances based on its remuneration policy and not basic salary as per the demands of doctors.
Please have a look at the NTV video on You Tube of the the doctors' union KPMDU representative refuting claims by the government that it has released funds to cater for the doctors' salary increment.
