Kitale - The Trans Nzoia Deputy County Commissioner, Rebecca Muturi has been sentenced to 14 days in jail over illegal closure of a local pub.
It is alleged that Muturi unlawfully closed James Mulinge’s bar in 2005 leading to an accrued loss of KES 211 262.
In 2010, a Kitale court found Muturi guilty and ordered her to compensate the complainant for the damage caused.
Daily Nation however reports that Muturi paid an initial installment of KES 50 000 and then promised to settle the remaining amount this year, a pledge she did not honor thus forcing the complainant to seek court redress.
