D-Day in parliament over Media laws as Journalists plan protest

Nairobi - Journalists will hold a silent protest Tuesday as debate over the controversial Media Bill starts in Parliament.
MP's will debate the Kenya Communications and Amendement Bill as well as the Media Council Bill Tuesday on the back-drop of the protest by journalists.
The planned silent protest march which will begin at Nation Centre to Harambee House which houses the Office of the
President then to Parliament Buildings where they will present their petitions as will to the Deputy President and the Attorney General's offices.
" It will be peaceful and we will present petitions to the president, his deputy, parliament and the AG, David Ohito of the Editor's Guild told News24.
Ohito also confirmed that in-case the laws are passed in their form by Parliament, the matter will be taken to court.
" We will go to court if our demands are not considered, he added.
The protest march has been planned by the Editor's Guild together with the Association of Kenyan Correspondents.
