Nairobi - Attempts by former National Social Security Fund boss,Tom Odongo, to retain his job turned futile after the dismissal of his reinstatement petition by the Industrial Court.
The court’s Judge Nzioki wa Makau rejected Odongo’s plea saying that he had already accepted KES 2.9 million as a retirement deal, Capital News reports.
In his suit, the former head of the social fund said that Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi had no powers to fire him, and made a decision that was arbitrary, not involving the board of trustees to whom he was answerable as chief executive.
However, Kambi said he sacked Odongo after he was involved in a scandal involving a high cost tender. The government would have lost close to KES 4 billion in the scam.
