Court of Appeal extends date for digital migration
14 March 2014, 12:56
Nairobi - The date of the switchover from analogue to digital signal has been moved to 28 March after the Court of Appeal postponed the date of the ruling on the case filed by media houses.
Three media houses namely, Royal Media Services, Nation Media Group and Standard Group brought the case before the courts opposing the government backed digital migration, Daily Nation reports.
The media houses’ lawyers argued that their clients were not opposed to the digital migration but were opposed to their content being distributed by a third party.
The migration had been suspended for 45 days last year in order to pave way for the hearing of the case.
The digital migration is in line with International Telecommunications Union requirements that members states switch to digital broadcasting by 2015.
