Couple arrested on their wedding in Mombasa swoop

Mombasa - A wedding ceremony in Mombasa was cut short after police arrested the wedding couple and their guests in an overnight swoop that saw about 300 people arrested.
The swoop was highly criticized by local elders who censured the police for ‘harassing innocent people’ instead of going after the criminals, Daily Nation reports.
Area Police Commissioner, Nelson Marwa, however congratulated the police for the operation which he said saw the arrest of two prime suspects who can aid with investigations over the recent terror attacks in the region.
This came only two days after a grenade attack that left one police officer seriously injured.
